Brass Taxes

Nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. And although the certainty of taxes is certainly painful for all of us, filing taxes can be particularly overwhelming for freelancers and the like. Rus Garofalo, the founder of Brass Taxes, has made it his mission to mediate that pain and make the process of doing taxes more friendly, manageable and far less scary for "artists, freelancers and other nice people."

Brass Taxes is tax preparation company that is by freelancers, for freelancers. dojo4 built out a site that allows customers to enter all of their tax information and schedule appointments. We also engineered a backend system for the tax preparers to use based on an open source issue management system. This allowed us to get them up and running with a powerful system much faster than if we had built everything from the ground up. Throughout tax season BrassTaxes used this system to successfully process thousands of returns.

Anything we can do to contribute to making doing your taxes more fun and even sexy and politically engaged is a good thing.
